Everyone, whether they want to admit it or not, is influenced by what their peers think of them. There are those among us who choose to dress and act noticeably different from the majority. Does this mean they have no sense of fashion, and just don't care? No I don't think it does. I think they have their own fashion, and ideals. Their way of dress is still a type of fashion, though not that of the majority.
If we had an unlimited supply of money, would we choose to buy all brand name items, or still shop at second hand stores? I for one enjoy shopping at second hand stores. I feel good about myself if I'm able to buy something that is cute, but was also cheap. If I had all the money in the world, it probably would make very little difference to me whether or not I spend $1 on a new shirt or $100.
There is however one constant in this world of fashion, and that is CHANGE. Style and fashion are forever changing. Whether it be to take something that was stylish 30 years ago and adding a twist, or something completely new. The "in" look is constantly changing. I believe that this is something product suppliers are happy about.
For those who enjoy always being on top of the latest fashion and trend this will get very expensive, so unless you recently just won the lottery, I hope you have a good job! Despite everything, being fashionable is something many strive for. But I wonder, if we spent a little less time worrying about that next pair of shoes, and more time worrying about the well being of those around us, how different would this world be?
In a way fashion is a sad hindrance to societies ability to grow and prosper as a whole. We are not focusing on what is truly important in life. Rather we are focusing our energies on things that are going to change as quickly as the wind.
